I got to print this officially licensed poster for @thedoors as a part of their new LIVE IN BAKERSFIELD album release.

“Relive one of the most sought-after unreleased live shows of 1970, now available for the first time. Recorded at the Bakersfield Civic Auditorium on August 21st, 1970.”

Edition of 200 - 5 color - 18x24 screen prints on Cougar Natural 100lb cover.

It’s been about a year since I’ve plugged this

It’s been about a year since I’ve plugged this print. I really love it - and although sometimes client design suggestions can really infringe on your vision for a piece - to this day the design note I got from this band remains the most unexpected and funny note I’ve ever received..

Here’s the story. A while back I came across a mid-century sewing pattern for a cool devil costume and really wanted to center a collage around it. When I got the gig here for Jawbreaker I thought if I integrated some flames this devil guy would be a fun nod to their song Fireman. Get it? Anyway, I sent off the final draft which was basically just this with a very generic face and upon review I got one single design note in return.. it said “We like it - but can you make the guy look like Gene Rayburn from the 1970’s hit gameshow The Match Game?”

So I did! And I’ve never regretted it for a second.

The Colorado Sound 105.5 is a non-commercial listener supported public radio station and NPR affiliate serving Northern Colorado.

The Awards feature multiple categories for currently active Colorado musical acts of all genres - voted on by the public.

I was pleased to meet Mr. Dave Bruzza (of Greensky Bluegrass fame) up in Denver earlier this year and was thrilled when he hit me up about making some posters for his upcoming solo shows this month - playing just two nights here in Colorado. 10/20 @opheliasden in Denver and 10/21 @washingtonsfoco in Fort Collins. If you’re in the area don’t miss your chance to catch one of these gigs!

These prints will be available at the shows (while they last) and then I’ll have a small allotment available online sometime next week.
